Scope and Contents This collection contains a brief, personal account of life in and around Lansing, Michigan, during World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II. Mrs. McDonald recounts her life as a child growing up in a rural community. She writes about life in general: the difficulty in finding a job, the hardships of the Depression, the relief offered by the New Deal, and a trip to the Chicago World's Fair of 1931.
